The Poets Are Coming This Fall!
A HISTORIC TWO DAY FESTIVAL OF BLACK POETRY AND PERFORMANCE!

Amiri Baraka, Jessica Care Moore, Haki R. Madhubuti, Ruth Foreman, June Jordan, Glenis Sherer, Kalamu ya Salaam, Toni Asante Lightfoot, Peter Harris, DJ Renegade, The Last Poets, Quraysh Ali Lansana, Wanda Coleman, Tony Medina, Afaa Michael Weaver, Thomas Sayers Ellis, E.Ethelbert Miller, Tracie Morris and over twenty more established and emerging Black poets, from across the US and abroad, are coming to the Washington DC metropolitan Area.

It's called "360° A Revolution of Black Poets," the largest and last celebration this century of Black poetry and performance; to take place on September 11 and 12, 1998.Co-sponsored by the Baltimore Museum of Art's Department of Community and Education and The University of Maryland Committee on Africa and The Americas, this historic two day festival will display the power and pageantry of Black Literature and Performance during the past half-century. 360° is being produced by BlackWords and hosted by Kwame Alexander. Kalamu ya Salaam is the Executive Consultant of 360°.

BlackWords, in conjunction with Runagate Press will Publish a companion anthology to include all participating poets and produce a CD of selected performances.

SATURDAY, September 12, 1998 at 8:00 pm at University of Maryland/College Park Inn and Conference Center/Main Auditorium University Blvd at Adelphi Rd. College Park, MD (10 miles north of Washington, DC) Metro Accesible (College Park Metro/Green Line) Ticket Office (301-314-8587) Tickets are $12 General Admission and $8 for students, children and Seniors

Also, on Saturday the 12th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, there will be free panels and workshops with many of the poets and participating writers. This will take place in the Nyumburu Center on the campus of University of Maryland.
