CAMBRIDGE CARNIVAL '98
Fun For the Whole Family,
 

On SUNDAY, August 9, 1998 (rain date, Sunday, August 16) Cambridge Carnival International will present the 6th annual Cambridge Carnival, a Caribbean and Mardi Gras style parade and festival in Cambridge, MA.

The parade will kick off at 12 noon on Western Avenue near the Charles River, continue on to River
Street and end on Massachusetts Avenue between Prospect Street and Main Street in Central Square. The festivities continues until 7pm.

This year's theme is "In The Spirit of Community".  Cambridge Carnival attracts more than 50,000 people who come to celebrate with costume groups representing countries such as Africa, Antigua, Barbados, Ethiopia, Haiti, Hondurus, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, to name a few.

Cambrige Carnival features island foods, exotic crafts, steel bands, and live music. This year's Carnival will feature a special guest apprearance by internationally acclaimed Haitian Roots band, Boukman Eksperyans. The festival will culminate with a benefit concert featuring Boukman Eksperyans at 9pm at the Middle East in Central Square.
