The Alexandria Black Resource Center has just opened an exhibition of photographs by local photojournalist Akmal Talib Muwwakki. The exhibition, "A Glimpse of Light Captures the Moment," presents positive images of African-American men and will run through August. The men in this exhibition, which seeks to counter the negative image of African-American men often presented in the media, are fathers, sons, role models and care givers.

A opening reception was held on Saturday, June 27, 1998. The Alexandria Black Resource Center is located at 638 North Alfred Street. For more information, contact, (703) 838-4356, or see the resource center on the Internet at the Office of Historic Alexandria Web Site: http://ci.alexandria.va.us/oha
