1ST ANNUAL BLACK  HISTORY/GENEALOGY CONFERENCE

The Buxton Historic Site & Museum is hosting their 1st Annual Black History/Genealogy Conference on September 4th, 1998 at the Historic British Methodist Episcopal Church (built circa 1861) in North Buxton, Ontario.

The theme will be making people aware of existing records and research materials to utilize in researching Canadian and United States materials concerning this area of interest. Speakers include Authors, Historians, Archaeologists and Curators from various Canadian Black Museums. In addition to these, Tony Burroughs, from Chicago, one of the foremost authorities and speaker on U.S. Black Genealogy; Norman McRae, Historian and author of many articles and several books on the Black Presence in the United States; and Donald Vest Sr. Historian and member of the 102nd U.S. Colored Troops Re-enactment Society will make presentations.
