A BLACK UNITED FRONT
On friday, June 26th, Kwame Ture (f.k.a. Stokely Carmicheal) head of the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party (AAPRP) staged a sit-in at the NAACP National Headquarters in Baltimore, MD. He was protesting the indecision on the part of NAACP Board Chairman, Julian Bond in regards to a proposed meeting between Min. Louis Farakahn, Julian Bond and himself. Mr. Bond has has been heard publicly making disparaging remarks about Min. Farakahn.
The meeting is intended to be the beginning of a Black United Front (BUF). The BUF would consist of all groups that represented and fought for the rights and interest of Black people in America. His thinking (as it was reported in the AAPRP press statement) is that the NAACP and the Nation of Islam are two of the pre-eminent organizations that serve the interest of Black people. If they can put aside their differences and work on the common interest, then other groups might follow suit.
How do you feel about this issue. Contact the NAACP National Headquarters at www.naacp.org and let your voice be heard.
Peace and Blessings,
Walter McGill
